In a September 7, 2026 letter to the Massachusetts Legislature, SASS expressed support for the proposed Ride Safe Act (S.3077), which would establish clearer safety rules for e-bikes, scooters, and other micromobility devices.
SASS welcomed the proposed speed classifications, age requirements, and improved crash reporting, while urging lawmakers to include a statewide default speed limit of 20 mph on shared-use paths, with flexibility to set lower limits where appropriate.
